Nascar Qualifying

Racing is a sport that many people are really interested in joining. However, it is not possible for all drivers to race on the NASCAR tracks at a time. So to keep a control on the quality of racing, NASCAR has its own set of NASCAR qualifying rules that the drivers have to pass to be able to participate in a race.

There are starting lineups for NASCAR races every week which is determined by NASCAR qualifying rules. With these qualifying times, the guaranteed starters and provisional are all taken into consideration in the NASCAR qualifying, which may at times prove to be rather confusing.

To decide who goes first, each team has to send a representative to the draw where each team is assigned a random number. This is the order for participating drivers in the NASCAR qualifying list. It is said that the outcome of NASCAR qualifiers is greatly dependent on the luck of the draw. This is because towards late afternoon, the track tends to cool, causing speeds to increase. So it is the driver with a higher number who is at an advantage.

There are two NASCAR qualifying lap the drivers get to set their best time. It is the better of the two laps that is considered the official NASCAR qualifying time for the driver. There are some tricks that can be used to get the best of the live NASCAR qualifying rounds. The driver tends to throw away the first lap by running up by the outside wall. With this, the engine gets sufficient time to increase its speed and thus can cover the second lap at an increased speed.

However at abrasive tracks like Darlington, the driver tends to pit after the first lap and not take the second lap as the car is at its fastest at the beginning. So if the driver thinks that he has reached his maximum speed at the NASCAR qualifying rounds, there is no point in taking the second lap and thus risks some damages in the second lap which will be slower.

The NASCAR Nextel cup qualifying round is basically determined by the length of time a driver takes to complete the fastest lap. This timing is done electronically to a thousandth of a second. Of course, if there is a tie, it is the team with the higher car owner points that wins the spot. Remember that the important aspect of NASCAR qualifying is the time of the driver, and not the speed of the driver.
