Vintage Auto Racing
You probably haven’t heard that there is an auto racing series for vintage cars. Well if you are not familiar with it, it’s time you know about Vintage auto racing! Vintage auto racing began in the year 1973. The VARA or Vintage Auto Racing Association is in fact one of the largest vintage auto racing in the United States. Their objective is to preserve such cars in racing format while ensuring safety.
While the most popular auto racing series are of course dominated by new cars and new technology, the vintage motor racing offers its own own unique brand of fun and excitement. There are other associations like the Corinthian vintage auto racing in Texas among many others.
A lot of vintage car collectors from all over the world enjoy finding and restoring such cars. Thousands of vintage car enthusiasts enjoy preserving, driving, and racing these cars. Imagine joining a vintage auto racing with a car that has probably won races from decades ago. Wouldn’t that be fulfilling and overwhelming to think that you are able to do it in this age of time?
In North America alone, there are over one hundred seventy auto racing events that focus on vintage auto racing. There are even thousands of smaller vintage auto racing events that are being organized by various clubs all over the world. Such events differ in size with major vintage auto racing events having as many as six hundred entries while other smaller events garner at least fifty participants.
Vintage auto racing is indeed one fun racing series to join. It’s actually one of the lower cost motor sports and provides a low key endeavor. The vintage auto racing specifications may differ from each event or association but in general don’t have to be as complex as the racing cars of today.
There are vintage auto racing events that include hill climbs, rallies, tours, auto crosses, car shows, meets, and "marque" among other special events. In vintage auto racing events, there are different makes, types, classes and categories just like any other motor sport. There sports cars, Grand Prix cars, Champ and Indy cars, Formula cars, together with grand touring, stock and sedan cars which dates back up to the 1800s.
